San Benito House

Our stay was wonderful. Everything is newly renovated and we enjoyed how clean and comfortable our room was. We especially appreciated the privacy, the beautiful bathroom, the split acs, the comfortable bed and sitting area and the window screens! We were fighting jet lag and fell asleep very early each night, but had absolutely no issues with noise from the street or the patio below. Location is perfect. A few things would have made our stay even better: - slightly better communication on check-in time/procedure. Upon booking I received a confirmation in the form of a receipt and didn’t get any info on check-in until I called to ask on the day of our reservation. Ultimately it didn’t matter, but it would have been appreciated. - a box of tissues in the room. Allergy season is upon us. - a trash bin for recyclables. Self explanatory. - more than two bath towels when the reservation is for two adults. Many people with long hair use a separate towel for their hair. Providing the bare minimum towels feels slightly stingy. - one size up in duvet. Current duvet is a bit narrow for two humans to sleep comfortably covered. The bed (and bedding) is wonderful, but a wider duvet would match the feeling you’re curating. Again, none of these things mattered enough to impact our stay, but could be considered in future.

I recently had my vow renewal at San Benito House (SBH) and it was absolutely amazing. First off, I was already planning my event at another venue up the street. I ended up canceling my event there and was thankfully able to have my event at San Benito House. The service we received from Elke and team was exceptional from the start. Planning the event was very easy due to the options that SBH offered in terms of menu, vendor and staff coordination, along with working with us and our vision for this event. The menu we picked was BBQ and every single dish was so good. We had visited the Cantina multiple times but had never known the extent of the BBQ. Come to find out, Elke not only plans and executes events, but also prepares amazing food. All of our guests complimented the food, venue and the great staff. Another benefit was the rooms above the bar at the Inn were back open so guests were able to experience the fresh decor. All in all exceptional from beginning to end. San Benito House and Downtown Half Moon Bay are a must visit. Over the years my wife and I have been visiting this area and always have the best time. In addition to the frequent live music and great food, I have to say San Benito's accommodations are really top-notch. It's clear that the owners went above and beyond with their recent remodel. For a quick get away from the City, this certainly fits the bill. Keep up the good work San Benito!
